Temple Beth-El Sunday School

Our Sunday School Judaica program is held on Sunday mornings during the school year.

Classes are held for:

  • Pre-Kindergarten on alternate Sundays each month
  • Kindergarten – 2nd grade for two hours each Sunday
  • Grades 3-7 each Sunday and two hours on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday afternoon.

Due to the many students in our school, we have two sessions for most grades on Sunday:

  • First session is 8:30 – 10:30 AM
  • Second session is 11:00 AM– 1:00 PM.

The Sunday School curriculum teaches the values of Torah, Avodah (Worship), and G’milut Chasadim (Acts of Loving Kindness) through a rich variety of classes, ranging from holidays to history, Israel, life cycle, Torah study, and Jewish ethics. Classes integrate formal and experiential learning models to facilitate a dynamic classroom environment. Our Sunday program also features music with our nationally renowned music instructor, Eric Komar.

  • Torah means continuous Jewish learning on a wide variety of subjects taught from Pre-K through Post-Confirmation and beyond.
  • Avodah (Worship) means engaging in worship experiences that connect us to God.
  • G’milut Chasadim (Acts of Loving Kindness) means fulfilling mitzvot and behaving in ways that connect us to all of God’s creation.

Each grade also participates in a family program throughout the year where students and their parents learn together with their instructors and rabbis. Throughout the year students participate in other special all-school holiday and community celebrations.

  • Grade-level Family Education programs for grades K – 6 engage parents and children in working and studying together, while several school-wide programs throughout the year offer them the opportunity to learn and celebrate together.
  • Our b’nai mitzvah students and their parents participate in a tallit-making workshop, which further enriches their understanding of Jewish tradition and what it means to become bar/bat mitzvah.
  • The 8th through 10th grade Confirmation Academy provides the opportunity for parents to help facilitate our experiential education programs with our faculty.

Parents also provide volunteer support throughout the year on many Religious School projects and programs.
